Individual

We will collaboratively explore conscious and unconscious reactions in order to break maladaptive patterns of behavior.  As safety to express your deeper emotional process grows, a greater sense of self and ability for closeness with others may be engendered.

Our individual work may include some or all of the following areas of growth:

  • Addiction recovery

  • Anxiety

  • Anger

  • Neglect and emotional abuse (developmental trauma)

  • Cultural Identity

  • Depressive symptoms

  • Disassociation

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Maladaptive thoughts and behaviors

  • Interpersonal/Relational difficulties

  • Life Transitions

  • Loss & Grief

  • LGBTQ issues

  • Past traumatic experiences

  • Social fears and insecurities

Group

I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP), and an active member in the Group Psychotherapy Association of Los Angeles (GPALA) since 2012.  I believe group psychotherapy is a setting to further explore our reactions toward others, and to learn how to put our thoughts and feelings into words appropriately.  With the help of others, true change can happen in the here and now.

Current Process Groups:

1. Mixed-Gender Process Group:  Wednesday evenings at 7 pm-8:30 pm

2. Mixed-Gender Process Group:  Thursday evenings at 6 pm-7:30 pm (still forming). Co-lead with Cindy Weather, MFT, CGP https://www.cindyweatherstherapy.com/

Please see the Group Blog page for more information about the importance of group psychotherapy as an avenue for interpersonal growth.

Couples

In couples sessions, conflicts in relationships ultimately stem from underlying emotional needs in ourselves and our partners.  We will begin with the tangible life conflicts (kids, housework, infidelity etc) and work our way to the emotion.  An individual's sense of self-worth, early attachment styles, communication abilities and tolerance for the differences of others all contribute to our emotional reactions to our partners.

Whether it's feelings of neglect, abandonment, hurt etc. these feelings are patterns we find ourselves repeating, and may stem from our earliest relationships.  Couples therapy, in this way, is a combination of finding tangible solutions with our partner, meanwhile actively exploring the origins of relational conflicts within the safety of the therapeutic setting.
